Boilermaker Welder

Mako Plant Services currently seeks a fit, hard working team member to undertake fabrication, maintenance and welding work. This dynamic position requires a proactive, self-motivated individual with the ability to give input into design and undertake fabrication and maintenance work requiring great attention to detail with minimal supervision.

In this role you will be Perth Metro based at the Mako yard facilities in Maddington and will collaborate with the Operations Manager and Heavy Plant Servicing Manager.

Working at Mako:

Mako Plant Services is a part of the WA based group of entities, Mako Holdings which including Mako Hire. Mako deals directly with the civil construction industry throughout the metropolitain area, with prospects of expanding into North-Western industries requiring heavy plant equipment on a hire basis.  This opportunity will see applicants partially based in Mako's yard facility and require them to travel to various metro work sites for onsite repairs and maintenance. This is a career opportunity that will see successful applicants become part of a small, successful team in an expanding company.

You will at minimum:

  • Be trade certified in Boilermaker Welding
  • Have two years experience in a workshop environment
  • Have strong skills and competence in the field of Boilermaker Welding
  • Have the capacity to cope with a small fast paced work environment
  • Have problem solving skills and an ability to think for alternative solutions
  • Have the ability to manage time effectively and prioritise to meet deadlines
  • Have effective communication skills
  • Be able to work on site when required
  • Have a Current WA drivers license (Preferred HR Class)
  • Have a forklift ticket
  • Have a Blue Card as well as a strong understanding of OH&S and Environmental responsibilities

Disirable Qualities:

  • Posession of a current first aid certificate
  • Awareness of safety standards pertaining to mining, earthworks projects, sites and plant & equipment.
  • Proactive, friendly and positive personality
  • Willingness to undertake further training in personal time to expand knowledge base and skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Flexible and open to dealing with pressures and demands of a small fast pace environment
  • An ability to work independantly including prioritising and meeting deadlines
  • ability to work unsupervised
  • Willingness to accept challenges requiring additional effort to what would be expected
  • Willingness to challenge convention in search of better alternative solutions

Any management training will be an advantage but not essential.

Mako believes that all staff should be paid according to their value and performance. Mako will not disclose intended wages or salary but will endeavour that any offer will be at the top end for your skills and experience. If you are short listed for an interview, you will be requested to provide a desired income for the role which will be considered carefully prior to an offer being made.
